AWB is an audio archive format developed by CRI Middleware. It is mainly used in PC games and games on PlayStation consoles, but it can be found elsewhere. AWB files usually either contain HCA or ADX sound filetypes. They are commonly found in CPK archives.

The first four bytes of the file always have the value 0x41465332 ("AFS2").

Tools

vgmstream

vgmstream can convert the contents of AWB archives to *.wav. Using the foobar2000 plugin, you can extract, play, and convert all files it contains as long as the contained audio files are compatible.

vgmtoolbox

Under VGMToolbox > Misc.Tools > Extraction Tools > Common Archives, choose CRI ACB/AWB Archive Extractor. Then, drag and drop AWB files. The contents will be dumped to a folder.
