Adobe Director (also known as Adobe Shockwave) is a game engine originally made by Macromedia that was used in old PC and browser games.

Adobe Director would later be forgotten with the release of Adobe Flash and it later being discontinued in 2017.

File Formats

  • DIR - Adobe Director Movie.
  • DXR - Adobe Director Protected Movie.
  • DCR - Adobe Director Shockwave Movie.
  • CST - Adobe Director Cast.
  • CXT - Adobe Director Protected Cast.
  • CCT - Adobe Director Shockwave Cast
  • X32 - 32-bit Xtra.
  • X16 - 16-bit Xtra.
  • W3D - Model.

Emulators

  • Projector Skeletons for Director - A version of the Adobe Director projector made to play any Adobe Director game. As it uses the official projector, it is the most accurate.
  • SCUMMVM - It can't be made to play any game (only plays games released on PC) and only works fine with versions up to 4.1 as of writing.

Tools

  • DirectorCastRipper - Extracts assets found in side the files.
  • Shockwave-3D-World-Converter - Converts the W3D model files to OBJ. The models may have some of its vertexs out-of-place but that's uncommon.
