The Textures
Textures are one of the most important parts of a model, without it a model is just blank. As such, we have some standards for these too.
Missing Textures
Is your submission missing any textures that should be there? If so, chances are it will be rejected. Sometimes model exporters and editors only copy the texture that is immediately applied to the mesh so make sure to get all of them, even if the textures aren't copied when exported.
Texture Format
We only allows textures to be in .PNG format and don't allow any other format. Make sure that textures are in the .PNG format when submitting. The only exception to this rule is if the textures were originally a jpeg file in the games files which is not common, in which case you can keep them as a jpeg.
Modified Textures
We do not accept textures that have been altered from their original form in anyway. Modifying the texture's things like dimensions or pixels will result in the submission's rejection from the site. Splitting textures that contain different maps however is permitted. (eg. Super Smash Bros. Ultimates PRM textures)
Do the textures actually work?
Sometimes we get submissions where the textures within it don't even load and are corrupted. Please make sure that your textures are working before submitting.
The Model
Combined Meshes
Does the model contain parts that were fused together but should not be?
Distortion
Is the model squashed, stretched or skewed by a noticeable amount? When it comes to screencap ripping, especially with the PS2, this can be hard to avoid, however we won't accept the models if there was not enough effort put into fixing the distortion of the model.
UV Issues
If the model has any noticeable UV issues, it will be rejected on the spot. The only exception to this is if the UV issue can be seen in game and can't be helped.
Low Quality
Has enough effort been put into the submission? Have you removed any unneeded parts, such as extra faces or vertices from a screen capped model for example?
Rigging problems
Does the model have any noticeable problems with its rigging? If so, it will be rejected. Make sure to check the rigging of the model before submitting.
Incomplete Model
Is the model missing parts or files that should be included? If it is, the submission is on the grounds for a rejection.
Model Formats
When it comes to submitting models, you need to submit it as one of the mandatory file formats. Once you have one of those in your submission, you can also include any of the optional file formats listed below.
Mandatory Formats:
- .obj - Must contain a matching .mtl file to go along side it.
- .dae
Optional Formats:
- .fbx - Allowed if you include a working .dae with the submission.
- .ms3d
- .blend - Most of the time only for Custom models.
Rendering Submission Icons
The (Small) Model Icon
The Small Icon needs to show a preview of what the model is/what it is about.
The icon needs to be 148 by 125 pixels in size otherwise the submission page will give you an error upon trying to submit.
The (Big) Model Icon
The Big Icon needs to have a depiction of the model rendered in it's default pose. It needs also to be 750 by 650 pixels in size otherwise you will receive an error when trying to submit.
