Mario Kart Tour was a racing game developed by Nintendo EPD, DeNA, SRD, and Bandai-Namco Studios and published by Nintendo. It was released as a closed beta on May 22, 2019 in the United States and Japan that ended on June 4, 2019. It was fully released worldwide a few months later on September 25, 2019. The game would later be shut down on September 30, 2026. Some of the game's content would be brought over to Mario Kart World and as paid DLC in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Engine
Mario Kart Tour runs on Unity. However, due to the size of the game, it required the player to download additional files onto their device. Since the game's servers are defunct, these files can no longer be obtained unless they have been archived<!--*cough* *cough* internet archive-->. Fortunately (for rippers), the downloaded additional files are not encrypted and do not require additional tools like Super Mario Runs additional files do.

The game also uses Wwise for its sounds and music.

File Formats
* Unity files
* .unity3d - Archive file
* .zst - Compressed archive
* .pck - Audio archive

Ripping Tools
AssetStudio
AssetStudio can view and extract content from Unity games, including Mario Kart Tour.

MKT Tools
MKT Tools are a set of tools that were used for modding the game. MKT Tool does have an executable file (mktmodformat.exe) that can help with ripping audio files. See the MKT Custom music tutorial below.

MarioKartTour-Zst_Decompress
MarioKartTour-Zst_Decompress is a tool that can decompress the game's .zst files. However, this tool only works on very early versions of Mario Kart Tour (like version 1.0.2) and does not work with .zst files from newer versions of the game.

Wwise-Unpacker
Wwise-Unpacker is a tool that can extract audio files from the game's .pck files as either MP3 or OGG files.
