Platinum Games is a company that was founded in 2006 by several former members of the defunct Capcom studio, Clover. Platinum has made some of the most critically-acclaimed action games of all time, but all of them except for Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising have been commercial flops.

The file systems for their games all seem to follow the same structure, and most of them share the same file types. However, each game seems to use a different method of encryption for its model/texture files (sans Vanquish, which uses the same exact encryption method as Bayonetta).
# Open Noesis and browse to where the files are located.
# Double-click on a model file to open it. The model should appear in the window, and if available, its animations will also be playing.
# Right-click on the file of the model you just opened, then choose "Export" from the drop-down list. A dialog window should appear.
# Choose the formats you want to export the model and textures as, choose the directory you want to extract them to, check the "No animations" checkbox (optional), then click the "Export" button. Once it is finished, you should get a message saying, "Export complete." Click the "OK" button, then click "Close".

For more information, view the Noesis portion of this wiki.

Notes
* Noesis is compatible with the Dreamcast version only. It is also only compatible with a .gdi dump of the game; a dump of the game in other formats (i.e. .cdi) will not work.
* The bones seem to be quite glitchy when exporting, so it would be best to export the models as .obj instead.

The Nintendo 3DS is a handheld console created by Nintendo in 2011.

As the successor to the Nintendo DS, the console features two screens, with the bottom having touch controls. The console boasts a better set of specifications to its predecessor, but also allows for 3D vision without glasses on the top screen.

Ripping Tools
There seems to be a way of creating a RAM dump, making it possible to rip models, textures, and sounds this way. The method requires a 3DS system below 4.5 firmware and a flashcart, and can be quite complex. More information here and here.
The Sega Dreamcast is a console created by Sega in 1998. It was Sega's last game system before they became a third-party publisher.
This program can be used to rip the standard Dreamcast texture format (read below), or to rip Sonic Shuffle, Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage or Space Channel 5 models. It also has support for Skies of Arcadias model format, although you need a .gdi dump of said game in order for the model files to be recognized.

Common File Formats
Most Dreamcast games tend to use different files for each game, although some games use the same file formats. Here are a few that have cropped up in multiple games:

* .afs (Sound)
* .pvm (Texture/Sprite)

The PlayStation 2 is a console created by Sony in 2000. It is the number one best-selling system of all time, selling more than 155 million units worldwide. The system featured many games 3D titles, a select few that heavily featured sprites.

Ripping Tools
The PlayStation 2 uses DVD-based technology, meaning that all of the data found within a game can be read using a standard ISO viewer (with only a few exceptions), or by inserting the disk into your computer and browsing it. As such, the console has a vast number of different formats that are used that require their own dedicated tools to view. Some common formats can be seen below.

A number of games, however, are restricted. When trying to view the files on the disc, it's possible that there will be significantly less than you would expect from the reported file size used on the disc. These files are hidden, and are generally not able to be accessed. The only means of ripping from games with these restrictions is by playing with an ISO of the disc directly, and not by mounting it. This can of course be an arduous task.

Texture Extractor/Reinserter (TextER)
TextER can be found for Windows at www.romhacking.net. It allows you to extract .TM2 (TIM2) files found within other files. This method doesn't return the correct file names, however.

A batch file can be created to make ripping TIM2 files from multiple containers quicker. Save the code below into a ".bat" file, and include it in the same folder as TextER.exe. Running the .bat file will then extract any TIM2 files found within all of the files in the same folder as both TextER.exe and your batch file.

<code>for %%X in (*.*) do texter -e "%%X" -tm</code>

Common File Formats
TIM2
For more details on this file format, please visit the TIM2 page.

The .TIM2 file format is a common format for both sprites and textures.

Suggested Emulators
PCSX2
PCSX2 is the only fully functional PlayStation 2 emulator, and as such is the only one that can be recommended. It requires a relatively strong system, and is not always 100% compatible with every game.
The Playstation 3 is a console created by Sony in 2006. It was infamous at launch for its $500-600 price tag and its lack of interesting exclusives, but over time, it gathered a plentiful library of great titles, both first-party and third-party.
The Atari Jaguar is a video game console that was developed by Atari Corporation in 1993. It was marketed as the first 64-bit gaming system, but was a commercial failure, and is widely regarded as one of the worst systems ever made.

The console later received a CD-ROM peripheral called Atari Jaguar CD, released in 1995.
Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment is an RPG based on the Sword Art Online light novel series. The game was developed by Banpresto and released in Japan for Portable.
File Formats
* .GMO - Model/Animation data
* .GIM - Texture data
* .TM2 - Texture data
* OFS3 - Archive
* AFS2 - Archive/Sound container
* .WAV - BGM (Background music)

Ripping Tutorials
Archive decryption
The main archive of the game is encrypted, however it is possible to decrypt it using JPCSP. In order to do that you need to:
<br />

# Make sure that "Extract PGD files to TMP folder" is checked as shown on the picture.
# Launch the game and wait for the archive to decrypt. The game will start as soon as the process is completed.
<br /><br /><br /><br />

Archive extraction
After finishing the previous step you should have a file named "PGDfile.raw.decrypted" in the TMP folder of your JPCSP. This is a .CPK archive. You can extract it using this QuickBMS script.

Alternatively you can use Noesis, but be sure to change the extension of the archive to .cpk or the programm will not be able to recognize it.

You may notice that a lot of files are extensionless and have names like "057" or "20f0". A lot of those appear to be OFS3 or AFS2 archives. It is not the fault of the extractor, it really is the way files are stored in this game.
# Select the preferences of your choice, then click on the "Convert" button.

Notes
* It is recommended that the models be ripped from the Xbox 360 version, as the PS3 version has downgraded textures, and, at the time of writing this, Wii U game filesystems are not yet accessible.
* You will notice that all of Bayonetta and Jeanne's models (sans their child forms and animal forms) have some strange meshes attached to them. The reason for this is because these meshes are used to form the shape you see in their shadows in-game. When submitting your model rips to The Models Resource, it would be best to include in your .zip folder the original, unmodified version of the model (with these meshes), and a version without these meshes.
Notes
* Some models may not display textures, or export them, in BRRESView. An easy way around this is to open Dolphin, turn on the Dump Textures feature, launch the game, and then either play up to the part that has the model that appeared texture-less, or go to the game's Model Viewer.
* Alternatively, check the Texture.brres file as a bunch of common textures are stored in it.
Platinum has made some of the most critically-acclaimed action games of all time, but all of them except for Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising have been commercial flops.
The file systems for their games all seem to follow the same structure, and most of them share the same file types. However, each game seems to use a different method of encryption for its model/texture files.

The Wii is a console created by Nintendo in 2006. It is one of the top five best-selling game consoles in history, and it shares many traits in its file system to Nintendo's previous console, the GameCube.
Ripping Tools
The Wii uses DVD-based technology, which generally would mean that files are visible from a disk through any standard ISO viewer or by inserting the DVD into your computer's disk drive. However, Nintendo specifically designed their disk drives to read files in a unique manner, making the reading on Wii game's disks require a special piece of software. There are a number of tools available.

Dolphin
It's possible to read the files from a Wii ISO through the Wii/GameCube emulator, Dolphin.
Common File Formats
BRRES
For more details on this file format, please visit the BRRES page.

A standard container file for 3D models, textures, and animations.

BRSAR/BRSTM
A standard sound stream file used in several games.

THP
A standard movie file used in most games. This file format is also present in several Gamecube games as well.
# Double-click on any one of the .cpk packages. A dialog window should appear.
# Choose the directory you want to extract the files to, then click the "Export" button. Once it is finished, you should get a message saying, "Export complete." Click the "OK" button, then click "Close".

Models
# Open Noesis and browse to where the files were extracted to.
# Double-click on a model file to open it. The model should appear in the window.
# Right-click on the file of the model you just opened, then choose "Export" from the drop-down list. A dialog window should appear.
# Choose the formats you want to export the model and textures as, choose the directory you want to extract them to, then click the "Export" button. Once it is finished, you should get a message saying, "Export complete." Click the "OK" button, then click "Close".

Sounds
# Download Puggsoy's VGS Converter.
# Open VGS Converter, then drag the .aax files you want to convert into the window.

Ripping Tools
Noesis
This program can be used to rip the standard Dreamcast texture format (read below), or to rip Sonic Shuffle or Space Channel 5 models. It also has support for Skies of Arcadias model format, although it always encounters errors every time a model from said game is opened.
